Inner Richmond
In the late 1800’s, the Inner Richmond used to be nicknamed the Outside Lands as it sat at the edge of San Francisco’s eastern districts and had not yet gone through any urban development. As San Francisco grew larger, families flocked to the area because of its close proximity to Golden Gate Park. It is now known as one of the most livable and vibrant areas with a great deal of cultural diversity. Inner Richmond is a bustling, multicultural area with access to the Presidio, Golden Gate Park and a wide variety of eateries and shops. The business center of Inner Richmond stretches along Clement Street, where foodies from throughout San Francisco flock to and find reasonably priced, international restaurants. From Cambodian and Thai to French and Russian, residents share the flavors and traditions of their homelands. Flanked by Golden Gate Park and the Presidio, Inner Richmond has no shortage of green space options. Locals can walk to Golden Gate Park’s Stow Lake, the Japanese Tea Garden and several renowned museums. In the Presidio, walkers and joggers enjoy approximately 1,500 acres of hiking trails and paths, multiple playgrounds, views of the outer harbor, Marin Headlands and the Golden Gate Bridge. MUNI provides residents with an easy commute to downtown San Francisco and the rest of the Bay Area.
