Rising from the former Southern Pacific train yards, the luxury condominiums of Mission Bay surround the high tech biotech campus of UC Medical Center. Eventually 6,000 new units will be built on the 300 acres next to the bay. Flat, sunny, and with plenty of parking, Mission Bay offers great views of the San Francisco Bay from rooftop gardens.
This up and coming neighborhood stands in stark contrast to San Francisco's historic outpost of Victorians called Dogpatch. And despite the undiscovered location, Mission Bay is remarkably close to downtown. An 8-block walk will take you past the ballpark, and SFMOMA, to the Financial District. Transportation includes the Mission Creek Bike Path, and extensions of the N Judah and T Third Street MUNI lines which connect the neighborhood with Downtown, and Caltrain Station offers rapid commutes to the South Bay and San Jose. For those driving, Mission Bay is close to the freeway entrances of 101, 80-East and 280-South.
